[edit] Information

HLA-AA has an outreach project to help introduce looping technology in our area. Looping increases access to public places and facilities for people whose hearing aids are equipped with telephone coils. For information and questions about looping, drop us a note at loop@hla-annarbor.org. To date we have helped loop four locations in the County:

We have an outreach project to loop Washtenaw County. This will bring assistive listening to a wide variety of public places in our area.

Here is our Looping Presentation (PowerPoint file) that we use to tell people about our project.

Just make sure your hearing aid has the T-Coil!

Here are at least four different methods of using a loop:

  1. Running a wire around a room and connecting to an amplifier. Input to the Amp from one or more microphones or a PA system. Output to telecoil equipped hearing aids or to a headset plugged into a portable telecoil receiver. Radius depends on size of loop and power of amplifier. Small = 500 sq ft. Large = 6,000 Sq ft.
  2. A portable loop embedded in a clipboard or an easel which also contains a built in microphone and amplifier. Radius about 5 feet.
  3. A Loop cushion hooked to a small amp and mike. Fits under a chair. Radius about 2 ft.
  4. Plugging a loop necklace into a pocket ampmlifier such as a Williams Pocket Talker or a Radio Shack personal amp. Radius = your head
